Enjoying our last few weeks as a family of 3....Part II!

Owen and I are doing lots of "play at home" things over the next few weeks due to fears of Abe being exposed to sickness.  We are limiting indoor/closed in play dates more than usual.

See...
Enjoying our last few weeks as a family of three...Part 1!

This blog is very random and has tons of pictures. I know these last few moments as a family of 3 are so precious, and I have photographed EVERYTHING. I hope I cherish it when I look back one day.

I feel like this blog should be titled the "Fall Homeschool". We have done so much learning over the past few weeks. Owen is going through a phase where he is very into learning new things. He always wants to do an activity or a project. He is only two, and I feel like he should be PLAYING! Where did my baby go?

Don't get me wrong I am happy Owen wants to learn, but sometimes I feel like he just grew up too fast. He has been talking in full sentences and conversations since he was 18 months old, which was nice-but at the same time I didn't have a baby very long! Now instead of digging in dirt...he wants to learn his letters. ;) With that being said, I try to make most of our learning fun and playful. He has his whole life to be serious.

Join me as I take a look back at our last few weeks as a family of three. Such a precious time with my precious baby boy!

Owen LOVES helping in the kitchen, and doing any type of "practical life" skills.  The kitchen helper is the best thing he has! Owen has learned how to climb in and out of it by himself. He washes his hands on his own, and gets that little bit of independence every toddler wants.

The other day he cut his own banana into slices....

These sweet hands make my heart melt!

He even made a honey/cinnamon dip for his "nanas"...

Owen has been begging me to make waffles for a month now. He was so excited when I told him we were going to make Paleo Pumpkin Waffles for breakfast. He is such a good cook. Mommy ate three of his waffles. :)

This new skill of cracking eggs makes Owen feel exceptionally BIG!

MMMM MMM! Pumpkin waffles, bacon, and a yogurt smoothie!

Owen loves to help me dust.

He is saying..."Mommy I am being very gentle to these fragile things."

Our first "inside" day was rainy, but it wasn't cold. Owen and I decorated the breezeway in front of our apartment with sidewalk chalk.

Practicing number recognition by putting the correct amount of leaves in the numbered square....

We've been working on letters- at Owen's request. For the first few days I thought maybe it was a little too early, and Owen wasn't ready. A week later he knows more than half of his letter sounds!

The B says Bah....

This was so much fun! A "B" bath with Blue water, Balls, and Boats.

Pointing out the B's and telling me they say "Bah!".

We also threw a Birthday party for Teddy.

Owen went to Publix and picked out everything for Teddy's party on his own. I just let him go wild on the cake aisle. :)

He made the cupcakes "all by himself".

FUNFETTI!!!

Owen's favorite thing to do....crack the eggs.

Well, this might be his new favorite. ;) His first time using the mixer...

He even carried the cupcakes to the oven.

Icing the cupcakes with BLUE icing of course!

Sprinkles!

Sampling a few...

Let the party begin!!!!!

I got in trouble for forgetting a banner. I mean who has a birthday without a birthday banner?!?!?  Apparently, I don't have it together....(like I didn't already know this)

Singing his sweet little heart out...

Owen LOVES blowing out candles...

Teddy's present!

A football!!!! Teddy got hurt because he "wasn't listening" to Owen. He wouldn't hold out his hands to catch the ball and took a few tumbles. Owen had to take Teddy to the hospital and he had to spend the night. Owen said Teddy promised he would "listen better next time". I just love Owen's imagination!

What is the best part of birthday parties? Eating the cake or seeing sweet icing covered faces?

"F" is for frog!

We had fun with the Letter A too!

We went to the clubhouse for a while for a change of scenery.

Tracing is hard work!

 A is for apple!

We made an apple sun catcher.

First, Owen colored a coffee filter with markers...

Then he sprayed the coffee filter with water...

Once the coffee filter dried we glued it between two apple cut outs, and hung it on the window.

TA-DAH!

This was a super fun craft! I taped an apple cut out to the bottom of a box, and let Owen roll an apple and paint around in it.

You can't have an "A" day without apple stamping...

Owen colored an A coloring sheet.

I love the way he traced over the A's.  I thought he would just color the picture.

I love that bed head!

Owen drew this A all by himself! See what I mean....slow down and be two. PLEASE?!?!

We love Do-A-Dot worksheets...

I printed off a "find the A" worksheet. I didn't think Owen would be able to do it, but he finished the entire worksheet in 10 minutes. I can't keep up with him!

Making sure he didn't forget any... he is quite the perfectionist! I love the look of concentration on his face.

He found every A, and only marked one letter wrong. It was an E on the bottom that was next to an A. (The red mark on the B is from my finger...haha)

Owen learned three letter sounds in 3 days.  Since I took this video last week, he has learned over half of his letter sounds. His little brain is like a sponge right now.

Working on fine motor/pre-writing skills is a great way to spend our "inside days".

Owen loves putting pom-poms in different containers with tweezers.

We also tried tracing lines and letters with a Q-tip...

The second time we did this Owen had it mastered!

Playing with a colander and pipe cleaners....

He was entertained for an hour....

Finished!

It's a Silly Hat!

We've worked on some "Math" skills on our stay at home days as well.

Playing some number games Mommy made for him...

Lining up bears from largest to smallest...

Science experiments are one of Owen's favorite things to do....

What are these you ask my friend? They are quite possibly the best thing ever....Magic Fizzing Treasure Rocks! Here is the recipe in case you want it....lots of fun!
Magic Treasure Rocks

Squirting vinegar on the rocks to make them fizz, and reveal the "treasure".

I didn't think Owen would want to play in the leftovers because he doesn't like to get dirty. I was wrong. Thank goodness for Oxyclean Maxforce!

We did another fun science experiment called "Fizzy Ice".

First you need to crush the ice a little...

Next, we sprinkled the ice with baking soda, and dyed some vinegar.

Owen started by dumping the colored vinegar on the ice...

Owen learned how to work the dropper all by himself on this particular day. He was very proud of his accomplishment.

Fizzy colored ice on a cold day...

I got a wild hair and decided to try the "microwave a bar of Ivory Soap" science experiment with Owen.

What do you think happens when you microwave Ivory Soap?

Forming his hypothesis....

AMAZING! "It growed Mama! It growed to the sky!"

 Touching it...

Attempting to color it with markers...

Science is fun!

We had a snow day and Daddy got to stay home!

Daddy and Owen camping out in the tent...

Daddy and Owen ready to go play in the snow!

He was so excited that he got to eat an icicle!

We love to play outside!

One day Owen and I fed the fish at our apartment's pond....

 It's the little things...

So sweet! Be still my heart!

We spend lots of our play at home days just doing art projects. Who doesn't like art?

Coloring a picture...

Cutting up paper scraps...

Painting with Pom Poms and clothespins...

These sweet feet.... (don't you just love them?!?)

On one of our "art days" those sweet feet made these Valentines for all of Owen's grandparents. Owen was SO excited about mailing them out!

Owen's favorite form of art is painting...

If you look in the middle of those sweet scribbles, Owen drew his first smiley face.  The eyes are two circles, the nose is a line, and the smile underneath. I will cherish this one!

Bubble Wrap painting!

I have been snuggling a lot with Owen during nap time. I know it is a precious time I won't get often once Abe arrives.  He is such a snuggle bug, and who wouldn't want to snuggle with this cute little bed head?!?!

I love our staying "in" days. I love the bonding time with just the two of us. I know it is best right now, but we have to go out and about some for our sanity.

We go to gymnastics once a week.

Daddy got to take Owen on silly sock day.

I am so happy I get to accompany this cool dude to gymnastics. ;)

We had an "unexpected" outing to the Tire Store one morning to get Mommy a new tire.

I bribed him not to touch anything  in the store with a doughnut. Bribery is my best parenting tool, and I am not ashamed to admit it.

Owen entertained everyone with his dance moves and squeaky shoes...

He also interviewed everyone in the store using my water bottle as a microphone. "Hello sir! Can you tell me something that makes you angry?" When I asked him questions he repeated the question in his answer...."Something that makes me happy is playing blocks." Future politician?

After getting a new tire, we went to Zane and Ashlyn's house to learn how to decorate cupcakes...

Mommy's creations.... (let's just say Ms. Toni had her hands full with Mommy)

Owen had lunch with his friends while Mommy decorated cupcakes...

Cake Boss watch out! Owen is a professional cupcake decorator....

YUM!

Of course, we have our weekly doctor's appointments. We haven't stopped our "after doctor appointment traditions".

 The Great American Cookie...

...and Moe's!

We recently had a small "Crafty Kids" play date at Ms. Toni's house.

Owen made a heart sun catcher from contact paper and tissue. Doesn't he look so sweet?

....and then he did some Valentine Art...

He loved the jewels!

Owen loves going to Ms. Toni, Zane, and Ashlyn's house. I love Ms. Toni's house because she has a huge bay window by the backyard. The kids can play outside without knowing we are watching them. I love watching how their imaginations work. We saw them play follow the leader and several other games....all on their own. When I went to give Owen the "5 minute warning" the children were pretending they worked in Santa's workshop. Owen was Santa and his friend's were the elves.

Thanks for always having us over Ms. Toni...and Owen says thanks for always making him delicious lunch! haha!

Stay tuned for Valentines Week fun next week!

We might just be a family of four!!!

Please pray for us as we make this transition from a family of 3 to a family of 4. :)
